The elephant in the room at 'No Kings' rallies is becoming impossible to ignore

By Anthony L. Fisher

It’s another “No Kings” weekend in the United States of America. Demonstrations against Trump’s imperial presidency are taking place across the country, trying to raise awareness for the midterm elections that are just over two weeks away, while registering a collective complaint against arguably the most un-American administration in our country’s history.

And yet, I can’t help but feel underwhelmed. This is not to throw cynical shade at the Resistance-coded “No Kings” movement. Many people are struggling thanks to Trump’s mishandling of the economy, and not everyone has the time to take to the streets.

No, what underwhelms me is a certain subset of Americans who are not attending these protests. This cohort apparently exists, but appears to lack the courage to stand up and be counted in public.
